OpenAI rolls out Code Interpreter to all ChatGPT Plus users, letting ChatGPT run code and process uploaded files
The official plugin lets ChatGPT run code, analyze data, and generate charts from uploaded files.
OpenAI today announced that Code Interpreter, an official ChatGPT plugin that lets the AI run Python code and process uploaded files, is rolling out to all ChatGPT Plus subscribers. Users can opt in via settings over the next week.
Code Interpreter turns ChatGPT into a data-analysis engine. Users can upload CSVs, images, or other files and ask the model to clean data, create charts, perform mathematical operations, or convert file formats. The code executes in a sandboxed environment, and the results — including generated plots — are returned directly in the chat. Some early users are already pointing it at SEO query intent classification and campaign analysis.

Code Interpreter was later renamed Advanced Data Analysis and became a core part of ChatGPT's paid tier. It remains one of the most popular features among power users, though critics note it occasionally struggles with large datasets and complex dependencies. OpenAI eventually integrated persistent file storage and longer execution times.
